The Simpsons & Stuff - Better Than BiMonSciFiCon

Almost Forgot How Much I Still Like the Simpsons

I remember the days when the syndicated Simpsons episodes aired in the dead time between day-time talk shows and prime time meant something to me. And just last night I was again reminded how much I like the Simpsons.

Remember "Hurricane Neddy"? Great episode. We finally learn why Ned Flanders speaks the way he does. Ever since that episode first aired, I can insert in curse words for Ned's nonsensical rhyme-speak. Try it. He's way more funny if you put in some f-bombs

World Cup Getting Ideas From the Simpsons

I cannot claim credit for this one in written form, but I did say it to a friend when I first heard...

Qatar stole its artificial cloud idea from The Simpsons

Remaking Moe's...Again

I won't lie. It's been a while since I have actually tuned into a new episode of the Simpsons. It's like watching a cancer patient. An old friend dying a slow, at times painful death...

But (and perhaps this is a good sign or just the effects of the chemo) I was intrigued to see the preview of last Sunday's episode during football as it had something to do with Moe's being turned into a gay bar

Futurama Filling the Void

I really meant to address this issue earlier, but here goes the first installment, anyway...

With the general crapiness of the Simpsons becoming so well-entrenched that I don't even bothering watching what was previously my favorite show, Futurama has become my go-to for that Groening-esque satire that I desperately crave. The first new season on Comedy Central was, well, delightful, almost brilliant. I plan on devoting a post to each episode as I need to focus on something to write about on this site, and the Simpsons ain't gonna be it

Calling a spade a spade

Let's just say that I am someone that uses at least one Simpsons quote a day, if not more than more. I have the Krusty mask, the Homer super giant pez dispenser, the Homer talking telephone, seasons one through ten on dvd... you get the picture.

Awesome phone... too bad I have not had a landline since I got it.

New Futurama

Have you checked out the new episodes of Futurama on Comedy Central?

So far, so so. There are some really high moments, though, that lead me to think they just need to requisition their Hermes' groove back

The Pain of a Lost Season Four Disc

The other night i was feeling nostalgic. Longing for a time when I eagerly anticipated watching the Simpsons on Thursday night. Alas, those days are no more, and that is not just because FOX switched the Simpsons to Sunday nights quite some time ago...

Imagine my dismay when I reached out for my Season Four set, only to find that disc two is no where to be found, a copy of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in its stead. I checked all of the random DVD sleeve books I have lying around, and then I remembered. Years ago I had two roommates, best friends of mine that were hopelessly hopeless in terms of being organized and responsible with something as trivial as a DVD. That disc two was gone a long time ago. I had put the memory out of my mind, only to relive the pain just last weekend

Worst Episode Ever?

So my vote has always been for "My Fair Laddy" ( I really really hate that one -- I mean, does Yeardley Smith have a clause written into her contract to sing in at least fifteen episodes a season or what? Love you YS, but come on, your voice is not that great to listen to

Conan O'Brien to Return to the Simpsons?

So, I am wondering...now that Conan O'Brien is looking for work, could he go back to writing for The Simpsons? Those were the glory days after all.

Let's look at the episodes that Conie wrote.

Simpsons' Season 20 Coming Out Before 13-19 -- Why Bother?

A month ago, 20th Century FOX Home Entertainment announced the upcoming release of the first Simpsons' season on Blu-ray, but don't get excited yet, since it is last season, the stinker 20th, that is coming out in in all its High Def glory.

I mean, I guess I can see why Fox would want to skip releasing the Simpsons' Seasons 13 through 19, as they were not much to write home about (or here either). But last season was a snoozefest and just lame for the most part. I am racking my brain trying to remember a funny moment, so I checked out a run-down of the season, and I audibly groaned while reading synopses for such unmemorable episodes like the one when a younger Ned and Maude try to keep Homer and Marge celibate before marriage (huh? -- exactly). Or that painful episode when Moe dates a little person and his shallowness ruins his last stab at happiness
