And I now know that there is a god, and he is good.

Simpsons Producer Weighs in on Nancy Cartwright's Robo-call

From Newsweek's Perspective Page (February 9, 2009 issue):

"'The Simpsons' does not, and never has, endorsed any religion, philosophy or system of beliefs any more profound than Butterfinger bars

Nancy Cartwright is Crazy, But Gotta Love That Voice

You may have run across an earlier post regarding our beloved Nancy Cartwright, otherwise known as the voice of Bart Simpson, being a Scientologist and donating a very large sum of money to that crazy Thetan-wanting cause.

Now, it seems that Cartwright is using her talents to directly appeal to those who may be crazy enough to attend a Scientology function. Check it out

Matt Groening Leaves Artwork as Tips

Ok, so most Simpsons' fans know that Simpsons' creator, Matt Groening, is from Portland, Oregon. And it seems that Groening does in fact still live here, at least part-time.

Some time ago, Groening visited the restaurant that I work in, and he left this awesomeness behind when he left

Deep Space Homer Sighting

I had a movie night the other night. I watched Be Kind Rewind, which was very darling and entertaining -- I highly recommend it if you have not seen it already -- and then I watched Killer of Sheep, which is probably more for an academic more than your typical Joe Sixpack. It was then about two in the morning, and I really wasn't tired. Instead, I started looking around the gazillion cable channels and I stumbled across Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion.

I had never watched the movie starring Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino, and kind of always wanted to. Just never found the time

Shear Genius Gives Marge a Kicky New 'Do

So, here I am, sitting around drinking coffee, waiting for Project Runway (seven hours and counting...), and I am catching up on some of the earlier episodes of Bravo's Shear Genius. Now, I hated the first season of Shear Genius, as well as the first season of Top Design, which I see is getting a new, non-robotic-Todd-Oldham host, so I'll give it another chance. I know, I know, I am a sucker for reality/competition shows.

But I digress...I always do

My Fourth of July Text Message

So i sent out one of those mass text messages that we all love and hate at the same time. I tend to rely on the "mass text" for holidays to cursorily connect with my many friends that I never call. It is also a great way to evaluate your own friends by seeing who responds, and how quickly.

Anyhoo, this is what I sent

Venezuelans Don't Like Their Simpsons in the Morning

Ran across this little story on Yahoo yesterday.

It seems that a Venezuelan television station has been punished for showing Simpsons reruns at 11am. Seems that the Venezuelan tv regulators have deemed that morning hours should be "kid-friendly" shows only. Now the station has to air two public service ads a day for thirty days as part of it's reprimand

Chess, Simpsons-Style

Okay, so this particular post is more of an aside than a true post, but bear with me here...

There was a time in my life that it seemed that every present or gift I received from family and friends had a theme, a Simpsons theme. I knew it was getting bad when one Christmas I got two Simpson's Clue sets, and wouldn't you know it, I had already received that game the previous birthday
