My Fourth of July Text Message
So i sent out one of those mass text messages that we all love and hate at the same time. I tend to rely on the "mass text" for holidays to cursorily connect with my many friends that I never call. It is also a great way to evaluate your own friends by seeing who responds, and how quickly.
Anyhoo, this is what I sent...
"Happy 'celebrate the birth of the country by blowing up a small chunk of it' day"
1. Surprisingly, not one person caught the reference. Even Lorenzo, who usually catches the random Simpsons' quotes that I throw out.
2. My friend, Carrie (Love you...), did respond with a "umm...what?" To that, I sent back, "Simpsons quote. I was wondering if anyone would get it." And Carrie Lynn Pyka, of all non-Simpsons' watching friends of mine, called me out on f*cking up the quote.
And gosh, she is right.
Here is the correct quote, CARRIE!!

And it is the quasi-Apu character, the shopkeeper at the Lil' Value Mart, that says the line, not Homer.
My bad. But in my defense, the spirit was there, and isn't that what the Fourth of July is all about?
