Futarama's Future Complete with Original Cast
I don't know if you have been keeping up with the news lately, but there was some hub-bub over signing on the original cast for the illustrious return of episodic Futurama. I mean, can you imagine Bender not voiced by John DiMaggio?
This is what he looks like in real-life, in case you were wondering...
Anyhoo, by the end of July, it seems that salary issues were resolved, and as of this writing, we will be getting new Futurama with the real cast including Katey Sagal, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Tress MacNeille, Phil LaMarr and the aforementioned DiMaggio.
Katey Sagal said in an recent off-the-cuff interview at a party that she wasn't surprised that 20th Century Fox put out casting notices to replace her.
Recasting the voices of Futurama would lead to riots in the street...at least, my street.
Sagal also mentioned that they were having their first table reading last week. That is just too exciting, and it also means that we should be seeing new episodes in about a year. Huzzah!

Sagal said, "I wasn't surprised. It's business."
Did she think there was any chance they would replace the cast? "Well... first of all, I think it would be very hard to find five people to replace us. I think that it would have been a very different show. The fanbase for Futurama is so fiercely loyal; that's why we're back, because of the fanbase. And I think they were upset, really upset that the voices would be different.
"I don't think you can replace Billy West. I don't think you can replace John DiMaggio. But I'm sure they got submissions; I'm sure they got people that, you know, thought they could do that."
