The Simpsons & Stuff - Better Than BiMonSciFiCon

If You Were Marge Would You Put Up With Homer?

Marge Simpson loves Homer
Homer Simpson is crass, thoughtless, selfish, and a half-ass husband and father, at best.

And, yet, Marge stands by her man time and time again
Homer Simpson Deep Thoughts

How about you? Would you stand by your Homey if you were Marge?

No way, he would have been out a long time ago.

Hilarious, Nina!

What about all Homer's endearing qualities such as....

hum, you might have a point there!

she's 'in love' with homer, she looks past all his shortcomings and sees a sweet person.

Like she says 'my perfectly imperfect you [homer]'

Love is a powerful thing.

Most of the time Marge stands by him, but occasionally she lets other feelings through. I was actually thinking of the quote from Wild Barts Can't Be Broken

Bart
: But you gotta support the team [Isotopes], Dad! They're already threatening to move to Moosejaw.
Marge: That's right! Like my mother always said, you've got to stick it out, even if you picked the loser … (looks at Homer picking at his ear with his finger)… to the bitter end...

But that's the exception to the rule. Most of the time she is willing to look past his many, many imperfections!

Well, it's not as if Homer had ever pretended to be anything different- Marge knew she was fishing from the shallow end of the gene pool when they first shacked hooked up.

Hmmm....on the one hand, I would have kicked Homer's pudgy butt out the door years ago. But there's an inherent sweetness to Homer's buffooness that actually makes him redeeming....so I can see why Marge keeps him.
